Welcome to Nixistentialism
Nixistentialism by Robert S. Nix is a newsletter of key insights, observations, true stories and ravings of a washed-up, old, has-been attorney-political consultant-adjunct professor-scientist-bartender, mostly, but not exclusively, about science, law, politics and bartending.
Why? I enjoy writing. Any writing. Legal writing, academic writing, white papers, op-ed and commentary, memoirs, creative non-fiction and short story fiction.
I’ve spent a career sharpening my legal writing. Over the years, I have had about thirty of my op-ed and commentary pieces published in newspapers that include The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, Impacto Newspaper, Al Día, Allentown Morning Call, Harrisburg Patriot-News, Today’s Catholic, and The Catholic Standard and Times.
Here is a link to my most recent op-ed piece, Uneasy Alliances Needed to Turn Back MAGA Nationalism, Bucks County Courier-Times, Oct. 6, 2022: https://www.buckscountycouriertimes.com/story/opinion/columns/2022/10/06/uneasy-alliances-needed-to-stop-trumpism/69541557007/
But the thing about legal writing is that its sole purpose is to persuade, and the thing about op-ed pieces is that they have strict word count limits. Plus, at heart, I’m a storyteller anyway, not an opinion writer. So, with Nixistentialism, I’m expanding in new directions, directions that don’t limit me to 750 words and where I can tell the stories that are inside me dying to be told, before I die. Like I said, stories, mostly, but not exclusively, about science, law, politics and bartending.
